Golden Jubilee

The Gisborne branch of the R.S.A. celebrated its golden jubilee just prior to Christmas. An afternoon gathering and an evening cabaret were highlights of the celebrations.

During the official opening, R.S.A. president Gordan Harris (right) presented the city with the title deeds to a property in Wainui. The City Council will build flats on the section for pensioners and R.S.A. pensioners. Mayor Harry Barker is seen accepting the deeds on behalf of the Council.

A presentation of long service badges and certificates was also made by the national president of R.S.A., Sir Hamilton Mitchell.
