Popular hosts at the hotel, Jolly Stockman, Jack and Bobbie Faras, have left for Auckland. Jack has taken the position as supervisor of the hotel division of New Zealand Breweries, Auckland area. The couple are pictured with their daughter Louise and son Timothy. Jack has been proprietor of "The Jolly" for the past six years.

Rachel Sullivan and a 48 lb water melon. The melon was grown by her grandfather, Mr Arthur Milligan of Poynters Lane, Te Karaka, last season. No, Rachel did not eat it all at one sitting!

The Gisborne Youth Council presented a cheque for $400 to the Cancer Research Society. The proceeds were from a sponsored walk which was held some weeks ago.
