August 3 through to August 8 was Conservation Week during which the populace is minded of the need to conserve, in general, our natural resources, and in particular the countryside from the effects of soil erosion. The Te Hapara Venturers worked again this year on the Kaiti Hill gully in the Titirangi Reserve where they have been maintaining dams to stop the eroding effects of running water.

A new type of dam is erected across the gully to stay the gouging effects of the water. From left are Keith Hughes, John Ford, Tony Bartlett, Ross Sebire and Ian Stichbury (assistant Venturer adviser).
