Pictures from the Past

From long time "Photo News" reader, regular subscriber, and former East Coaster, Mrs A. Lunam, 30 Anzac Street, Cambridge, come these two pics taken in the early 1920s.

This shot shows a load of timber going out to Wharekaka (about six miles north of Tolaga Bay) for Dick Farthing's house. The photo was taken in 1921 and shows Mr Lunam in charge of the cattle convoy.

Coming into Tolaga Bay with a load of wool from the then. J. B. Morris station at Kaiaua in 1923. Part of Tolaga township is at the right. If the same photo was taken today the Tolaga Inn would feature on the right of the picture and Cook Street (where the wagon stands) would be a broad sealed highway.
