New Ambulance

A project – the provision of a new ambulance for the St. John organisation – is under way under the auspices of the Turanga Lions Club. The new ambulance, which is actually a Falcon 500 station wagon, will be used for the transport of outpatients to the hospital to outside areas for treatment as required, and for general work where the big ambulance is not really necessary, thus leaving the ambulances proper ready for emergency duty any time they are required. The new ambulance is to be paid for from the proceeds of a raffle being run by the Turanga Lions and the prize is a trip for two to swinging Surfers' Paradise on Australia's fabulous Gold Coast. At a dollar a ticket it is a cheap trip, and even cheaper insurance if you have to dial 111 for St. John services. Some of the Turanga Lions raffle committee pictured with the new vehicle are, from left, Max McKenzie, Doug Liddell, Warwick Bain, Athol Hutton and Norm Davies.
