Pupils of Standard II at the Mangapapa School decided to hold a mufti day to raise money for a charity. By paying a fine for wearing other than their normal school clothes they raised $6. A class meeting was then held to decide what to do with the money and the decision was to donate it to the Peruvian Earthquake Fund. Miss G. Clifford-Jones, president of the Gisbome branch of Red Cross, was invited to the school to accept the donation and forward it on to the fund.
