A nzac Day was again honoured in the city this year with a good muster of Returned Servicemen and a large section of the public attending, War veterans marching to the Cenotaph for the ceremony.

Former Army Chaplain, the Rev. John Walton, gave the address. Major M. E. Johnson (retired) of the Auckland Mounted Rifles has missed only one Anzac Day Parade since its inception. The 86-year-old major is one of 17 army men in New Zealand with the Military Cross and Bar. He fought on Gallipoli, was promoted from private to captain on the field and, in all, served in the Army for 38 years.
