A second noeprene rescue tube was presented to the Gisborne Surf Life Saving Association recently. This extremely light and durable material makes the support of patients much easier in surf rescue. This second tube was presented by Guy and Dunsmore Sports. From left: Messrs Ian Dunsmore, and Bob Jenkinson and Bill De Costa, the association's chairman and president, respectively.

This 40 lb cake was made and decorated by Hans Kwak of Anton's and flown to Auckland to become part of the travel promotion display. It depicted the Sunrise Coast and was surrounded by the area's produce made in icing.

Mrs Ada Thomas, 32 Winter Street, celebrated her 90th birthday recently. Mrs Thomas, a resident of Gisborne for the past 40 years, is at present a patient in Ward Five, Cook Hospital. Mrs Thomas is pictured with her niece, Mrs "Nickie" Nicholson, 55 Lyndhurst Street.

A five-to-seven function was held in the Albion Hotel recently to introduce to Gisborne retailers the large bottles of Lemon and Paeroa. Pouring the first bottle for the company's general manager, Peter Robson, and one of Eastern Bottling Company's directors, Snow Hansen, is Miss Lemon and Paeroa herself, the very attractive Jenny Russell.
