The Long Spin

During Wool Week the Mahia Spinners challenged the Matawhero Spinners in a fleece-to-fmished-garment contest. Sheep were shorn at the Farmers' Trading and Adairs and the teams then started on the making of a jersey. Mahia won the contest.

The winning team: Mesdames Jill Scott, Mary Lewis, Hazel Crampton, Reo Ormond, Margaret Taumata, Colombine Black. They finished the jersey in three hours, nine minutes and forty-six seconds.
