"Trade Mark"

The recently opened Maori Arts Centre in Derby Street, just down from Childers Road, is now fully operational and producing fine articles of Maori art. All types of carving, kits, pois and paintings are now on sale. Two full time craftsmen, Bison Kere-kere and Bill Mou, operate at the centre, and at times are helped out by Tom Smiler. The centre is also starting courses in the Maori arts and if you are interested phone 84-347.

Tukutuku or reed panelling is also part of the craft.

There are plenty of good kits available too. They are all good value and, of course, last for years.
