Members of the Cook Hospital Board gathered at Ulverstone to officially farewell the retiring chairman, Mr J. B. Williams, and present him with a handsome chair. The speakers, pictured with Mr and Mrs Williams are, from left, Messrs R. C. Parker (chairman Cook County); Mr V. G. H. Rickard (on behalf Waiapu, Opotiki and Wairoa Hospital Boards); H. H. Barker (Mayor); Mr and Mrs Williams; Sir Edwin Bate (president Hospital Boards' Association); Dr J. P. Kennedy (Health Department); and R. A. White (deputy chairman Cook Hospital Board).

Mr and Mrs J. Lyle were recently elected life members of the P.B. Master Hairdressers' Association. Each have given untiring service to the profession, Joe over 30 years and Beryl 25 years.
