Another New School

Although construction finished some time ago, the new Makaraka school was not officially opened until the school held its gala day recently. The modern new block is ideally situated and replaces the old classrooms. The school, incidentally, celebrates its centenary in nine years' time.

The gala day was a lot of fun for the children and, below left, Mary Sutton, Kerry Lewis, Sue Lewis, Stephen Durston, Betty Gretton and Richard Hansen take a ride with 'Betsy'.
