Behind The Fiery Scene

A lot of hard work and money went into the spectacular fireworks display during Cook Week and now that we have room we are able to show you some of the work that went on behind the scenes. Hours of preparation were necessary for the set pieces which were assembled at a showgrounds shed before being put into place at Rugby Park. Quick acting fuses, travelling at 200 feet a second, meant that the pieces virtually came on display at once, which added greatly to the display. The Doo brothers, who spend most of their time staging fireworks displays around the country, were responsible for the Gisborne Spectacular.
