Mrs Bess McDermott (better known as Nana Mac), 8. Kowhai Street, does crochet work with a difference. She makes these beautiful panels of The Lord's Prayer. One panel takes about four weeks to make and Mrs McDermott uses four balls of cotton to make one panel.

The recently retired Gisborne Resident Engineer of the Ministry of Works, Mr Harry Goodman, has been appointed Director of Works of the Cook Islands. Mr Goodman had been resident engineer of this city since 1960.

Fire Station Officer Peter Wooller, 292 Palmerston Road, has been presented with the Gold Star Award. The star, given for long service, was awarded to Mr Wooller for 25 years' service with the Volunteer Fire Brigade.

A presentation was made to the I.H.C. hostel from the Gisborne West Rotary Club. Club president Bill Bishop is seen presenting the especially constructed high-chair to I.H.C. president Nora Steed. The high chair enables easier feeding of some of the younger people at the hostel to be accomplished.

Dennis and Jonette Surridge, 526 Aberdeen Road, are off to Auckland where they will open a record bar in Otahuhu. Dennis leaves from the Chrisp Company where he has been employed as sales manager.
