Comprehensive Exhibition

A comprehensive collection of botanical specimens constituted the major part of an extremely interesting exhibition marking the work of Banks and Solander during Captain Cook's explorations of New Zealand. The exhibition was organised by the Business and Professional Women's Club, assisted by other organisations.

The flags of Sweden (Solander), England (Cook and Banks), and New Zealand, along with a boat and food barrels, gave a distinctive air to the entrance to the exhibition.

Entry was gained over a simulated swamp.

The display was opened by Professor J. T. Salmon, Professor of Zoology at Victoria University, seen here addressing the crowd.

Old pioneer homestead utensils on display included a sitz bath and a butter churn.
