He Beat 20,000

A 14-year-old Gisborne boy, Stephen Williams, has won a national competition from over 20,000 entrants. The competition was the Holeproof-N.A.C.-sponsored "Name the Plane" contest. Each entrant had to name the 10 planes pictured, make up as many words as possible from "permanently pressed", and work out a percentage problem. As his prize Stephen has won for himself and family a 10-day N.A.C. "Skyway holiday" anywhere in N.Z. Stephen is pictured with Mr Cliff Hogarth, acting manager of N.A.C's Gisborne branch, Mr Arthur Bridgeford, the general manager of the sales division of Holeproof (N.Z.) Ltd, from Auckland, and Stephen's parents, Mr and Mrs Craig Williams, 11 Iranui Road.
