The Big Walk

A charity trek in the form of sponsored two, five and ten mile walks resulted in $167 being raised for the Intellectually Handicapped Children Society. The trek was organised by members of the Gisborne Labour Party under the direction of the local candidate, Mr Trevor Davey.

Those taking part in the trek were led off from the Donnelly Training Centre by the Pipe Band.

Once they were away some of the walkers couldn't even keep their feet on the ground.

The above banner needs no reiteration from us--sufficient to say that the occasion was extremely jubilant. A cabaret, Old Boys' Rugby games, a dinner and a sick parade were all part of a great weekend.

Sitting en masse past members had an enjoyable Saturday afternoon of the Queen's Birthday weekend shouting White! White! White! and watching present teams play.

×

Although defeated by the present competition leaders, Ngatapa, the senior team showed all the old club spirit.
