The driver of this Wards Transport truck, Eddie Carrington, had lucky escape when steering failed on main highway at the northern end of Tatapouri bay. Truck left highway, lurched over steep bank, smashed a large concrete culvert pipe, and dived off road parapet into the sea, then at high tide. Fortunately truck remained right side up, with its deck awash, and driver was able to clamber out, unhurt.
