Celebration Observations

The city is now becoming celebration conscious and signs of this are to be seen in various localities around town. The main celebrations commemorating the landing of Captain James Cook at Gisborne two hundred years ago will take place in October.

At Adairs Store a large mural of the Endeavour is situated on the top floor near the coffee shop. It is 25 feet long, just a quarter of the size of the ship herself.

Two open replicas of the Endeavour sit on poles above the intersections of Gladstone Road and Grey and Peel Streets.
