Hiking High

The Te Hapara Air Scouts, accompanied by six Takitimu Sea Scouts, went on a two-day hike recently. They tramped from Waerenga-o-kuri up 1,950ft Mt Rimuhau then down into the Waingake Valley where they camped for the night. The next day they hiked through to Taurau Valley and on to Manutuke where they visited Whakato Pa. They then went on to the Waipaoa river which they crossed on a raft built by patrol leaders. The Scouts were picked up by parents on the Willows side of the river.
