Interesting Exhibition

A most interesting exhibition of stamps, post office equipment and pottery was on display for a week at the War Memorial Hall. Organised by the Post Office as part of the Centennial Year celebrations the highlight of the exhibition was the display of stamps depicting the voyages and explorations of Captain Cook. Every place connected with the captain's journeys was represented by a stamp from that place. The collection is the work of Mr R. M. Startup of Masterton.

Of real local interest was the array of Gisborne Airmails. This collection contains a stamp from the first airmail service from Hastings to Gisborne in 1930.
