The Te Aute College Third Fifteen were the winners of the Ransom Cup in 1920. In the team were two boys who later in life made names for themselves in the professional world. They were Golan Maaka, a doctor, now of Whakatane, and Tiwha Bennett, now deceased who was a prominent dentist in Auckland for many years. The team is, from left at back: Hauiti Poi, George Mackay, Tom Tibble, Golan Maaka, William Poutu. Middle row: The late Mr E. G. Loten (headmaster), Rangi Waikari, Ernest Chadwick, Sam Green, Peina Tamou, Eric Campbell, Wa Aranga, and Mr George Hamilton (coach).
