Bill Carrington, a former Poverty Bay and New Zealand Maori Rugby rep., has been elected president of the P.B. Rugby Union. He was the only nominee for the position. A member of the management committee for a total of eight years, Mr Carrington had an outstanding rugby record. From 1947 to 1954 he represented P.B. as a front row prop. For N.Z. Maoris he played in 26 of the 33 matches staged between 1947 (when he was first selected) and 1951 (when he retired from Maori representation). His record also includes selection for P.B.-E.C. in 1948 and 1949, and Tai Rawhiti selection in 1948-49 and 1952-53. Bill Carrington has been closely connected with union administration since those days. He was sole selector in 1960 and 1961.
