We've seen some mushrooms in our time but these ones found by the Edwards of 205 Grey Street, out at Te Karaka, must surely beat the record. The largest, which is being weighed by Mrs Edna Edwards, measured 10 inches across.

These beefsteak tomatoes looked more like the fruits of outer space found by the Star Trek crew than ordinary tomatoes. They come from the Ahlin garden, 163 Lytton Road, and are shown by Mrs Jean Ahlin. There must be someone up there with a snitch on our plants and vegetables.

When Mr Lindsay James, Waihirere Road, Wairoa, came to cut his birthday cake recently, he was in for a surprise. Adorning the cake was this ingenious racehorse, made mainly from potato, which his wife constructed in tribute to his longtime interest in the nags.

Suzanne Scott, 2 Desmond Road, the daughter of Mr and Mrs C. J. Scott, holds an unusual dahlia sport. It was pure white on one half and red on the other half.
