The principal of Lytton High School, Mr J. C. Wilson, with Mrs Wilson has left for England, Mr Wilson has obtained the position as Education Officer at New Zealand House where he will recruit secondary school teachers for New Zealand schools.

An educational tour of the harbour was taken by pupils of the Makauri School on the Hikurangi.

An unusual gesture, and a mark of the esteem in which he was held by his pupils, was accorded Mr M. H. Beuth, headmaster of Ilminster Intermediate school, at the end of last year. Form II pupils, on the eve of their departure, gave him a painting. It was presented by Sandra McGregor.

Miss Kathryne Silson has transferred to Auckland. She has been speech therapist at the Central School for the past three years.

One of the best speakers on the High School scene is Janet Zame of St. Mary's College. Last year she won the Anthony Eden, Gisborne Rotary, College, and Royal Overseas League Cups for public speaking. Guy and Dunsmore provided a couple of great trophies for Boys High surf riding contest.

Senior event was won by Billy Goodwin 1, with Roger Brown and Eddie Maguire 3.

The Boys' High vaulting team gave displays to primary schools in the area. Their high standard can be judged from this shot. The team is named below.

Mrs N. T. Houlahan, senior assistant mistress at the Central School, has transferred to Te Wharau school. School committee chairman Brian Bull made a presentation at a farewell function.
