The 3,918lb ground power unit for starting Friendship planes was delivered to the airport recently by Bristol Airfreighter. The starter unit will be in use from October 13, when the Friendships commence overnight stops here.

Resting in the harbour basin after the exertions of towing 1,000 yards of metal by barge from Auckland to Gisborne is the tug Mohala.

The long, long trail wasn't a-winding but going straight down the road after something came adrift and let go a portion of the maize this truck was carrying. The trail stretched from Roebuck Road to Stanley Road. It's a pity the Chook Brigade was out of town for the day or they would have cleaned it up faster than it was - which was pretty fast.
