Out and About in Wairoa

The Wairoa Jaycees recently organised a youth weekend for the young set.

Mr R. N. Bartlett who has been doing wood carving for about six years. During that time he has turned out many fine pieces. He spends about six hours on the simpler shapes, while the wore intricate ones take up to 200 hours to complete. Some of Mr Bartlett's carvings were on display in the public library.

Static displays were organised by various clubs. This is one by the Scouts. Inset shows Jaycee Bill Peach who convened the project.

Some parts of a human skeleton were unearthed when building contractors were excavating behind the Clyde Hotel. They are thought to be very old and are to be sent to the D.S.I.R. to ascertain their age.
