University Graduates

Some of the local young men and women who obtained their degrees at graduation ceremonies this year are pictured on this page.

Jill Sweeny, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. H. Sweeny, 25 Cook Street. Jill obtained, her B.Sc. in Physics and Maths at Otago University. She is now studying towards her Teacher's Certificate at Epsom College, Auckland.

Tessa Stephens has her M.A. in History from Otago and she is also studying for her Teacher's Certificate at Epsom College. Tessa is the daughter of Mrs E. M. Stephens, 41 Waitangi Street.

The son of Mr and Mrs G. T. Allcock, 9 Cook Street, Clive Allcock received his degree of Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Otago. He is continuing his studies at Otago Medical School.

Brad Patterson, son of Mr and Mrs R Patterson, Makaraka, graduated B.A. at Victoria University. Brad is studying for B.A. honours this year.

John Dow, son of Mr and Mrs P. H. Dow, 508 Palmerston Road, took his B.Sc. Degree with honours at Canterbury. An Old Boy of Gisborne Boys' High, John is at present working as a geologist on the Tongariro hydro-electric power scheme at Turangi.

Errol Campbell obtained his B.Sc. at Canterbury University. He is the son of Mrs J. M. Campbell, 3 Waiteata Street, and the late Mr Archie Campbell.

A graduate M.A. with first class honours in English at Victoria University is Robin Rait, daughter of Mr and Mrs R. J. Rait, 431 Palmerston Road. Robin was also awarded a post graduate scholarship for further studies overseas in 1969. A former pupil of Gisborne Girls' High, where she was dux in 1962, Robin is at present a junior lecturer in English at Victoria University until she goes overseas.
