New Zealand representative of the Birtcher Corporation, U.S.A., Jack Healey, was in Gisborne recently demonstrating the newest cardiac monitoring systems for hospitals. The electronically controlled units work automatically and have warning and alarm signals to tell of the patient's immediate condition. Explaining the unit (which is used in intensive care wards for heart conditions) to Don Thorburn of Kempthorne and Prosser, is Jeack Healey (right).

Melbourne Cash's new air tube transmission system was installed recently and is here tested by the store's cashier, Jan Richards. The old system was destroyed in the fire of last May.

Pictured on its way to the factory is this new green pea harvester of J. Wattie Canneries. It will augment the large fleet of mechanical harvesters in use by the firm and help bring in this year's increased crop.
