Our Cover

Making one of the most charming child studies we have seen is Yolande Thompson, daughter of Mr and Mrs B. D. Thompson, 109 Harris Street. Yolande goes to the Free Kindergarten in Rutene Road, but next term starts school. Here Yolands gives us the basics of modern painting.

Back Cover.

The two pictures on our back cover this month depict to a nicety the bounty abounding in the East Coast area.

In the top picture Christopher Kirkness holds a bunch of ripe bananas grown by his father in a garden at Turihau Station. Bananas have grown on the tree before but have never ripened. This year they did, and, from all reports, tasted particularly sweet. The picture was taken by Mrs Kath Nunn.

In the lower picture we see a limit bag of rainbow trout in particularly fine condition. Ranging in weight from 4½ to 6½ pounds the fish were caught towards the end of last season at Lake Waikaremoana by Allan ("Aussie") Aitken, 6 Elm Street. The picture was taken by Paul Hickey.
