Four generations were present recently at the christening of young Vanessa Ashwell. From left, at back: Mr and Mrs H. J. Matson, 33 Heads Road, Wanganui, and Mrs H. Ashwell, Lytton Road (great-grandparents), Mr and Mrs Laurie Ashwell, 17 Churchill Crescent (grandparents), and in front, parents Michael and Valerie Ashwell with Vanessa.

Recent celebrants of their 25th wedding anniversary were Eric (Rusty) and Noeline Baty, 238 Lytton Road. At a surprise party for them they are pictured with their two bridesmaids, now Mesdames Eva Sargent (left) and Constance Davies, Rotorua (right).

Winners of the competition conducted in Invercargill by N.A.C. , and the N.Z. Travel and Holiday Association were Alan and Joan Vaughan. Mrs Vaughan submitted the best recipe for a fish dish and earned a week's holiday around the East Coast. With their daughter Janet they are pictured with Neil Summersby of the Orange Grove Motels where they stayed in Gisborne.
