The largest consignment of galvanised iron piping and corrugated iron was off loaded at Gisborne port recently. The consignment weighed 600 tons. The pipes, which constituted the major part of the consignment, were destined for J. S. Allen and Son's plumbing store.

A further stage in the construction of the new William Pettie bridge was reached recently when the last of the concrete decking was poured. Workmen are seen disposing of the last batches of cement at the Kaiti end of the bridge.
