Post Office people recently loaded the switching equipment for the new automatic exchange at Tikitiki. The frame and equipment were lifted on to the truck by one of Monk's cranes and then chained to the truck. A tricky operation then followed as the frame had to be transported in an upright position all the way up the coast.

The Council's decision to beautify the old Post Office site is a welcome one, particularly with the Cook celebrations coming up next year. The old foundations have been removed and at this stage trucks were carting in soil to make the lawns and gardens.
