Table Tennis Championships

The Poverty Bay table tennis championships, held in the Y.M.C.A. stadium, attracted good entries this year. Andre Vermes, a former Poverty Bay player now living in Napier and playing for Hawke's Bay, took the men's open singles title for the third time in a row.

The president of the N.Z. Table Tennis Association, Mr V. H. Hurrey, presented the trophies and he (centre) is pictured with the winners of the men's doubles, Bill Williams and Michael Bailey of Hamilton.

Winners of the mixed doubles were Jill Bloxham and Eric Paton.

The Poverty Bay president, Mr Dave Mills, presented Josie and Mike Mellelieu with tokens of appreciation for their past years of service to the club.
