Latest Addition

The latest addition to the Gisborne fishing fleet is the new crayfishing boat "Compass Rose". Built by owner John Nalder of 119A Iranui Road, the boat is 27ft long, has a ten foot beam and a draught of three feet. It is solid and strong being encompassed by three skins, each skin consisting of six sheets of marine ply.

The boat is powered by a six cylinder Fordson diesel motor and is well equipped with radio-telephone, echo sounder, automatic pilot and fire extinguisher. The "Compass Rose" will be used, in the main, for crayfishing, but some line fishing will also be done.
