Ten years old

This year the Gisborne Canoe and Tramping Club has been in existence ten years. Providing great opportunities for people of all ages to get out in the fresh air and explore many parts of the country, the club always has room for new and prospective members.

Excursioms are made up the coast, into the back country and south to Waikaremoana and other beauty spots.

The highlight of the club's activities during its existence so far would be the opening of their hut on Mt. Hikurangi in November, 1961.

The hut provides room for sleeping and many groups have made much use of the hut on frequent climbs up the mountain.

Pictured in front of the club's van, which holds quite a crew, is a group which recently went down to the Mangaone caves for the day. The 25 people pictured here are only part of the club's membership which is above eighty.
