Sentinel

A lone pine tree frames the sentinel of Poverty Bay, Young Nick's Head A dominant feature of the Gisborne marine scene, the historic headland will be seen by thousands during the 200th anniversary of Cook's landing next year.

From Ted Knox, a member of the Underwater Club, come these two fine pictures taken of fish in their natural habitat. On the left is a red moki swimming along the ocean floor, and on the right are blue maumau and a butterfly fish.

Autumn colouring was not seen to much advantage this year, but this shot of the trees along Score Road reminds us that nature can sometimes put on a brilliant display.
