Punters got good value from the "tenth race" on the card at the P.B. Turf Club's autumn meeting at Makaraka.

The largest field of the day contested the $90 "Modern Miss Mini Outfit Fashion Stakes" with Margaret Mann, an 18-year-old Gisborne-bred filly, taking line honours from outsider Adrienne Dierck, by half a knee.

Sponsored by Adairs, the event was a novel addition to the day's programme and was conducted in the bird cage.

Miss Mann, 2 Dixon Street, is a law clerk, and Miss Dierck, 18, is a dental student at Christchurch.
