Anzac Day Service

A large attendance of R.S.A. members, the public and local organisations took part in the Anzac Day services and parades. The main event of the day was the 9.30a.m. service held at the Cenotaph where the gathering was addressed by the Rev. H. A. Mitchell, a former Army chaplain, and the service conducted by the Rev.R. E. Bullen.

The Last Post and Reveille were beautifully played by the Gisborne Civic band, and the Salvation Army Band was also in attendance.

Wreaths were laid by the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, the chairman of the Waikohu County, Mr D. G. Dymock, on behalf of the counties, and by Mr P. S. Phillips, president of the Gisborne Returned Services Association.
