City Slams Hungaria 3-1

The best soccer match seen in Gisborne to date took place at the Childers Road Reserve on April 27 when Gisborne City proved its worth by beating the top grade Wellington team, Hungaria, by three goals to one.

In a game which had pace and action from the word go, referee J. Houston did a remarkable job of keeping control and any flare-ups were kept to a minimum. Hungaria turned on some very constructive soccer, for which they are renowned, but Gisborne City tackled fast and well, and did not allow the opposition to call the tune.

Gisborne City's colours of orange and black made the game even more colourful against Hungaria's white with black bands.
