Winner of the Del Surfboards International Trophy during the New Zealand championships held at Christ-church recently, Chris Ransley has emerged as one of the country's top surfers. He was also placed second in the junior surf event and the paddle race.

In particularly cold water and against strong opposition Chris put in some great rides to take the title.

Chris, who is 17 and the son of Mr and Mrs G. E. Ransley, 4 Dalrymple Road, has been surfing for almost four seasons now. Last year he gained fifth place in the national junior surf event and fourth place in the national paddle board race, so his improvement and effort have been well rewarded.
