Speed Knitters

The Gisborne section of the Kaiapoi Speed Knitting Contest to find the fastest knitter in N.Z., which attracted over 60 entrants, was held at Adairs. Ten knitters competed in the Gisborne finals, four of whom qualified for the regional final. Each knitter had 30 stitches on her needles and had to knit as many rows as possible in 15 minutes.

The ten finalists were, from left, Mesdames C. J. Bernstein, J. C. Cook, J. McGrannachan Ist (35 rows 9 stitches), Miss B. A. Blick, Mrs N. Madson, Mrs C. Zeilstra 2nd equal (33 rows 9 stitches), Miss S. Dahm, Mesdames R. MacDonald 2nd equal, (33 rows 9 stitches), C. Clare 3rd (32 rows 19 stitches) and Mrs E. A. Kingi.
