Prominent local shearer Stewart Symon and Australian visitor Reuben Brace. Reuben, a well known shearer in his home state of Victoria, spent a week in the district and hopes to come back for a longer period next year and do some shearing here.

Passing through Gisborne and here being greeted by the Mayor, Mr Barker, is Mr Edgar Williams, aged 76, of Christchurch, who is on a 3000 mile cycle trip round the North Island. Mr Williams was the first man to climb Mitre Peak, Milford Sound, when he was a young man.

Two locals who attended the New Zealand Conference of the New Zealand Civilian Amputee Association held in New Plymouth recently were Mr and Mrs Frank Griffiths.
