New Boat Launched

The Takitumu Sea Scout group held a regatta to mark the opening of their new boat shed and the launching of their new boat, the Turanga. A large crowd of parents and friends attended the function as well as fellow Scouts from Tainui and Kaiti.

Gisborne District Commissioner Mr J. R. Stevens presented Mr B. Johnstone with the honorary warrant of Scoutmaster.

Mark Williams, Andrew Ogilvie, Mark McLatchie, David Lowes, and in front, Brian Wilcox, Michael Powell and John Thorpe were the winners of the under 13 rowing crew.

Alec Robertson, Greg Colebourne, Stephen Matthew, Raymond Ballantyne and Alan Whitley in the Takitimu adventures boat Tokomaru.
