Inaugural Road Race
Prior to their Activity Day, when the athletics for the year were conducted, the Te Hapara school held an inaugural road race. The course, over a mile-and-five, was for qualified starters in classes three and four with separate divisions for "fillies" and "colts".
First in class four for "colts" was Chris Coppin.
Ross Candy - second class four.
First four in class four for "fillies" - Keren Rickard, Caroline Paipa, Penny Sheridan and Ngaire Flood.
First four places in class three were filled by Judith Maybey, Christine McGregor, Kim Davis and Judith Whitley.
Winner class three - Rodney Atkins.
Second in class three - Blair McFarlane.
