Around the Schools

A Queen Carnival will assist the Mangapapa School to raise the remaining $4000 required to finance the erection of a $16,000 assembly hall. The school has already accumilated half of its required quota of $8000 from galas, bottle drives and other activities. The Queen Carnival will be judged on a cent per vote system, and will climax with the coronation of the successful candidate at a "Royal Ball" in the Y.M.C.A. stadium. The candidates have been selected by the children or the school's four houses, and are, from left, Gina Braybrook (Tawa House), Felicity Ledger (Kowhai), Kristine Robertson (Rata), and Pauline Williams (Matai). At left is an artist's impression of an assembly hall similar to the one proposed by the school.
