Speech Finals

Four students took part in the East Coast area finals of the Maori Education Foundation speech contest, which was held at the Boys' High School. After being told the specific subject and given one hour for preparation the participants then had to give a six-minute talk on that topic.

The subject this year was a quotation from Queen Te Ara-i-rangi's first speech: "True integration will come only when the Maori becomes part of the community he lives in."
