Pot Pourri

A demonstration was held at the Gaddums Hill quarry to show the versatility of B.M.C.'s utility vehicle, the Gypsy, which made light work of both hillside and the rough tracks around the quarry.

The Gypsy is shown (left) with B.M.C. demonstrators Dudley White and Bill Archer (Wellington) George Morrison and Dave Pilkington (Magnus Motors) Alex McGregor (Tolaga Bay), and Brian Vercoe (Te Karaka), and (right) taking easily the rough terrain of the quarry.

At the charter dinner of the Christchurch North Lions, ex-Gisbornite Cyril Whitty was charter president. He is pictured at right with the charter and District Governor Sedley Wells.

Due to the unfortunate accident of the elephants eating tutu, the elephant race organised by the Lions and Jaycees had to be abandoned. However, the prize for the name and time of the winning elephant was decided instead by running the competition as a raffle. Eddie Houlahan (Lions) draws the winning ticket from the barrel as John Jennings and Don Thorburn (Jaycees) look on.

The Takitimu Scout troop held a bottle drive recently and the bottles collected raised £75 for the Scout funds.
