Good Luck, Opotiki

As we have no Miss East Coast in the Miss New Zealand contest, perhaps we'd better give our moral support to the most attractive Miss Bay of Plenty.

Joy Crowley is her name and she is the daughter of Mr and Mrs P. G. Crowley, Hospital Hill, Opotiki.

A stenographer with a law firm in Opotiki, Joy lives at home and, at the instigation of her five brothers, has entered and done well in beauty contests.

This year she has won the Miss Ohope contest (which has a prize of a holiday at Surfer's Paradise with £30 spending money), the Miss Rotorua contest, and was selected from over fourteen finalists at Rotorua as Miss Bay of Plenty for the Miss New Zealand contest.

Prior to this she returned recently from a working holiday in Australia where she was second in a Melbourne bikini contest, the placegetters being selected by public vote.

Joy has many and varied interests which include Maori culture, water skiing and making her own clothes.

With her sparkling personality and vital statistics of 36-24-36 she should go a long way in the Miss New Zealand contest.
