Final Speed Way Meet

The last meeting for the season was conducted at the speedway, Patutahi, on May 29, where the track improved from heavy to good as the day progressed--sufficiently, in fact, to let motor cyclist Alan Golds of Napier set a new lap record of 19.2 secs.

Oriel Martin broke Dusty Rhodes's fastest QT lap record at the course by 1.7 secs giving a new record of 20.3 secs.
